Pointe Shoe Fund
Why a Pointe Shoe Fund?
I have been wearing the same costume made pointe shoes by Freed for the last 13 years. Made by hand with different materials such as satin, glue, and leather, pointe shoes are constructed with extreme precision. One pair of pointe shoes cost between $75 and $100. They are designed to break down and mold to the foot of a dancer allowing for those breathtaking moments we see on stage during performances.
Unfortunately they don’t last long. Some of my shoes only last one single show; others at most, couple days of rehearsals. That’s why I nearly spend between 40-50 pairs of pointe shoes that cost thousands of dollars each year.
From extraordinary bourrées in Giselle where the dancers effortlessly glide across the stage, to the fierce execution required during other roles such as the Black Swan pas de deux during Swan Lake, your donation will keep me gracefully on my toes.
Thank you for considering a gift to such a necessary and much needed Fund.
